RAID 5 uses single parity (survives 1 drive failure), RAID 6 uses dual parity (survives 2 failures), and RAID 10 mirrors pairs then stripes (best performance, survives 1 failure per mirror). RAID 6 and 10 are recommended for large drives.
Yes! Most RAID levels support online capacity expansion. ZFS pools can be expanded by adding vdevs. CEPH clusters scale horizontally by adding nodes. Contact support before adding drives to ensure compatibility.
